Jacob Kvisla and Annika Sjökvist were behind both of the big handicap wins at Bro Park’s midday meeting, while Caroline Malmborg’s Irish-bred Humble Vibes won the two-year-old race on her very first start.
Bruce Almighty won Sunday’s Breeders’ Trophy Classic at Bro Park by six lengths from King To Be. Stall Trick Or Treat and Niels Petersen collected the SEK 928,440 first prize – and with King To Be second and Doc Holliday fourth, Stutteri Hjortebo once again had three of the top four in a Swedish feature race.
Niels Petersen won three of the four feature races, Stall Trick Or Treat collected SEK 1,328,440 in the space of an hour, and Danish breeding accounted for 2.6 million of the day’s prize money. Last year’s Danish Derby winner Grab The Moment won Sunday’s Breeders’ Trophy Mile at Bro Park by five lengths from A Million Dreams. It was a fourth straight win for Stall Trick Or Treat’s Go Go Gadget gelding, who has now passed SEK 2.6 million in earnings.
Stall Perlen’s Voix Du Maitre won Sunday’s Breeders’ Trophy Juvenile at Bro Park by a length from the Danish-bred I Got Lucky. The Appel Au Maitre colt thereby followed in the footsteps of his dam Voix d’Amie, who won the same race in 2020 – and Niels Petersen filled second and third.
Stald Chasing Dreams’ Ice And Fire won Sunday’s ITM Amacitalöpning at Bro Park by two lengths from Rayray. It was a second win from as many starts for the Danish-bred Oasis Dream filly, the first foal out of Margrethe.
Bro Park stages this year’s Breeders’ Trophy day on Sunday 30 August with four big races and a shade over SEK 3.7 million in the pot. Danish horses are central to all of them – from two Danish-owned two-year-old fillies in the ITM Amacitalöpning to Swedish Derby winner Doc Holliday, who in the Breeders’ Trophy Classic meets Bruce Almighty and King To Be among others.
Catharina Vång is both trainer and part-owner of Lamnol, who carried 52 kilos to victory in Friday’s 7 Furlong Challenge at Bro Park. Niels Petersen and Carlos Lopez took two of the evening’s three Class 1 handicaps.
Former Danish St. Leger winner New York Strip remains unbeaten over jumps. On Tuesday evening at Bro Park, Tobias Hellgren’s seven-year-old Danish-bred gelding took the Calvados Memorial over 3450 metres for the second year running, and his winning run is now up to nine.
The Roy Arne Kvisla-trained Bearwinner sprinted his way to the biggest first prize of the day at the Lunchgaloppen at Bro Park on Wednesday. There was a Danish victory too, as the Danish-bred Los Angeles gave amateur trainer Kajsa Svensson-Holmsten the first training success of her career as one half of Jacob Kvisla’s double on the day, while Marika Masuhr both opened and closed the race day with a visit to the winner’s circle.
Niels Petersen and Stall Trick Or Treat had the choice between running in Pokalløb (L) on Derby day at Klampenborg, or in Tuesday’s more ordinary Class 1 Handicap at Bro Park. The decision fell in favour of the latter, and last year’s Danish Derby winner did the job perfectly in the hands of Carlos Lopez.
Henrik Engblom was untouchable at Bro Park on Tuesday evening, where three of his horses found their way to the winner’s circle – crowned by Nimitz in the biggest race of the day. And the trainer was only a short head away from taking four wins home. Rävdansens Stuteri also had a huge evening as the breeder of two winners, including in the year’s first Swedish two-year-old race.
The Niels Petersen-trained Lord Of The Moon cemented his status as favourite for the Danish Derby on Sunday morning with a convincing two-length victory in Jockeyklubbens Grand Prix at Bro Park. The Sea The Moon son won the 2,100-metre contest ahead of Jan-Erik Neuroth’s Strike Ten and Søren Jensen’s Cosmopolitan.
A little over a month ago the Annike Bye Hansen-trained Aphelios won Pramms Memorial (L) for the second year running, and on Sunday morning there was a repeat performance in Challenge Stakes (L) over 1,400 metres on turf at Bro Park.
