Maria Williamson won two of Wednesday’s six races at Bro Park. Arctic Defence (Soldier Hollow) defied 70 kilos in the Klass 4 Handicap with Darren James Williamson in the saddle, and in the only named race on the card, Britta Strokirk Memorial, Dark Secret (Uppercut Action) scored under Moa Fägerhall.
Arctic Defence crossed the line just under two lengths clear of Caroline Malmborg’s Forty Love (Juniper Tree), with a head back to Beckham (Shalaa).
It was the four-year-old gelding’s third win in eleven starts and his first of the year, and the first prize of SEK 50,000 went to Visa Racing. He was bred by AB Ascot.

Dark Secret closed the day by three-quarters of a length from Madeleine Smith’s Bolzano (Gale Force Ten), with another length back to Moondancer (Dabirsim).
The filly is a Williamson family project from start to finish: bred by Williamson Racing and owned by Team Sassy, both with Darren Williamson behind them. After 30 starts and eight thirds, it was her second win.

The biggest cheque of the day went to neither of them.
In the two-year-old maiden Nocturne Belle (Appel Au Maitre) won by a neck from Noble Joker (Practical Joke), and with SEK 45,000 in first prize and a breeders’ bonus of SEK 68,000, her first win was worth SEK 113,000 to Nocturne Racing.
Alice Elmerskog Bäckström trains the filly, Engla Tunmar rode, and Stall Anna Forssell is the breeder.

The biggest first prize, SEK 57,000, was won by I Am Yankee (Freud) in the Klass 2 Handicap.
Julian McLaren’s six-year-old gelding won by half a length under the Danish rider Jacob Johansen, and behind him came Patrick Wahl’s Falkor (Barocci), who has passed SEK 1.7 million in his career, and Offer And Receive (Showcasing).

The Klass 3 Handicap opened the day, and there was never any doubt about the outcome. El Kerola (El Kabeir) won by six lengths for Roy Arne Kvisla, Sandra Brolin and Lisbeth Bolin with Per-Anders Gråberg in the saddle; the breeder is David McGuinness.
Two Danish-breds followed him home: Maria Jansson’s Iceman (Go Go Gadget), bred at Stutteri Thorskovgaard, was second, and Los Angeles (Juniper Tree) fourth.

In the purebred Arabian handicap Terese Compier got her revenge. Madja De Faust (Madjani) won by the smallest possible margin from Pistol Paddy (Paddys Day) — exactly the reverse of Jägersro in July, where Pistol Paddy beat Madja De Faust by a head.
Compier both trains and owns the four-year-old, and Thuva Hjalmarsson rode.

And then there is a pattern worth noting.
Annika Sjökvist and the owners behind Racehorses and Bubbles finished third in four of the day’s six races — with Campari Shakerato (Supremacy), Nereus Sacc (Jimmy Mack), Offer And Receive and Moondancer.
