GalopSport.dk was founded in August 2000 with a clear ambition: to create a gathering place for horse racing and the community that surrounds it. The website’s roots reach back to my childhood, where a love of writing and a fascination with horse racing grew side by side.

At the age of 12 I began writing on my father’s old typewriter, and it was there that the dream of telling stories first took shape.

It soon became clear that horse racing was a subject I could write about with authority – a sport that shaped my upbringing and filled my home with conversation, pictures, joy and memories of Saturdays at Klampenborg Galopbane.

My first encounter with the internet in 1996 opened the door to entirely new ways of sharing stories. Armed with a dial-up modem and self-taught HTML, I began publishing my writing online.

The internet was still uncharted territory for most people back then, but that early platform became a cornerstone of what would grow into GalopSport.dk.

More than 25 years on, GalopSport.dk stands as a trusted source of news, analysis and interviews from the world of racing. The archive holds over 15,000 stories dating back to 1997, and the site attracts Danish and international readers alike.

Modern technology now allows racing enthusiasts all over the world to follow Danish and Scandinavian racing. Danish translates quickly and easily into any language – and since August 2026, GalopSport’s biggest stories have also been published directly in English right here on the site.

My journey as a racing editor has given me a unique insight into the sport. Over the years I have worked as a press officer, jockeys’ agent, breeder, racehorse owner and agent for international auction houses. That broad foundation has, I hope, sharpened my ability to deliver journalism that informs as well as engages.

At GalopSport.dk, the goal is simple: positive, captivating journalism about the people and horses who make this sport so fascinating.
