Dual 1000 Guineas winner is back at Meydan

Cape Verdi and Balanchine Stakes in her sights?

Lulu Tøpholm’s three-year-old filly Sweet Sunshine, who earlier this year landed both the Danish 1000 Guineas (Mowerinaløb) and the Svenskt 1000 Guineas, has arrived at Meydan together with five stablemates. Sweet Sunshine also wintered in Dubai between her two-year-old and three-year-old seasons, when she was narrowly beaten into third in the Jumeirah 1000 Guineas (L).

Sweet Sunshine (Iffraaj) managed three starts during her last stay at Meydan – in December, January and February – and she came back to Denmark in fine form. Besides the filly’s two Guineas triumphs at Klampenborg and Bro Park, she finished tenth in the German 1000 Guineas.

Lulu Tøpholm has also sent her Jockey Club Cup (L) winner Hans Andersen (Frankel) on the trip to Dubai, along with Megarry (Inns Of Court), Listed-placed this year and a Listed winner earlier in his career, and the two-year-old talents Killian (Galileo Gold), Mist At Dawn (Inns Of Court) and Persuade Me (Cotai Glory). Both Hans Andersen and Megarry have, like Sweet Sunshine, been in Dubai before.

Killian has come to Dubai on a Scandinavian handicap mark of 81, and his two-year-old season brought big-race wins in Germany and in the Petit Prix on Jyllandsløbsdagen, as well as second behind Romanov (Starspangledbanner) in the Goffs Futurity Stakes and third on his debut in Germany.

The season’s first race day at Meydan takes place on 6 November, and from then on racing is held every Friday – with a few exceptions – through to Dubai World Cup day on 27 March 2027.

All the race days can be found in GalopSport’s calendar, and the races can be streamed live on “GalopSport TV” from the front page.
