No one was allowed to threaten the Swedish sprint throne on Sunday afternoon. Lamborghini BF (Holy Roman Emperor) took the Bro Park Sprint Championship (L) over 1200 metres for the second year running and is now up to 11 wins from 19 starts.
Youonlyliveonce (Sidestep) went off hard, and the English visitor Washington Heights (Washington DC) had to work to defend his inside draw over the first 200 metres.
Just behind them Lamborghini BF was perfectly placed in third, and already in the middle of the turn Elione Chaves steered him out into the track. From there he let no one past.
“Lamborghini BF is very fast and could certainly have gone straight to the lead. But I tried to get him to sit behind the front runners. Then I let him go through the turn, and he kept going really well up the straight”, said Elione Chaves after the win.
Niels Petersen-trained Ides of March (Wootton Bassett) quickened well over the last 200 metres and was second, with half a length back to Washington Heights.
The runner-up was Danish-owned: the four-year-old Ides of March runs for Elkær Stutteri, who an hour earlier had won the Appel Au Maitre Svealandlöpning with Romanov.
Cathrine Erichsen’s French Chunky (French Fifteen) was fourth under Jacob Johansen ahead of Aurinko (Karakontie), while Stall Perlen’s Crystal Love (Oasis Dream) and Petersen’s second runner Hunters Lullaby (Footstepsinthesand) followed. Youonlyliveonce finished last of the eight.

Lamborghini BF is owned by Hästgruppen i Lund AB — Fredrik Reuterskiöld together with Berno Fonzander — and was bred by J.K. Dewberry.
He has now won four Listed races in Sweden, and it was in this very race that he became the first in Scandinavia to beat Aphelios on turf.
“Lamborghini BF really enjoys being out on the road. He has had a fairly long season now, but so far he has shown no clear signs of losing his form. We have to take one race at a time. Either way it will be fun to plan his future targets”, said Fredrik Reuterskiöld.
