Lamborghini BF sixth in the King George Qatar Stakes (Gr.2) at Glorious Goodwood

The Fredrik Reuterskiöld-trained Lamborghini BF produced a strong effort in Friday’s King George Qatar Stakes (Gr.2) over 1,000 metres at Goodwood. The five-year-old top sprinter, owned by Hästgruppen of Lund, made a mockery of his 33/1 odds and was beaten less than three lengths at the line by the winner American Affair.

Lamborghini BF broke smartly and raced prominently with the pace on the far side. The 15-runner field split into two groups, and it was the stands’ side that prevailed in the end through American Affair (Washington DC) and Paul Mulrennan, who caught Rumstar, Time For Sandals and Asfoora.

Over the final 100 metres Lamborghini BF looked to have a genuine chance of holding on to fifth, but was outsprinted late by half a length by Jm Jungle nearest the grandstand.

Sixth place in the Group 2 contest was worth £4,050 for Lamborghini BF, who arrived on the back of three consecutive Listed wins on the Swedish tracks.
