Grey Tycoon and Lady Irene sent Niels Petersen to the top of the championship

Elkær Stutteri could hardly have made a better start to Ladies’ Day on Saturday afternoon. Grey Tycoon took the Racing Club Klampenborg Racing Bowl over 1400 metres by three and a half lengths from Bettina Andersen’s Lucien (Hurricane Red), with a further three lengths back to the same trainer’s Golden Dreams (Girolamo).

It was the fourth win of his career for the 4-year-old grey gelding, who also had Carlos Lopez in the saddle when he won the Göteborgs Stora Pris on 9 August — his first success outside Denmark.

Grey Tycoon (Dark Angel) was bred by Yeomanstown Stud in Ireland and bought as a yearling at the Tattersalls October Sale. The first prize was DKK 50,000.

Elkær Stutteri made it add up at both ends of the day: after Grey Tycoon’s win came second place in the Danish Oaks with the stud’s own homebred Jazz (Juniper Tree).

The day had otherwise begun with a tight finish in the Class 3 handicap, where the Rikke Rohbach Bonde-trained Étoile Noire (Footstepsinthesand) and Nicolaj Stott held off Mette Fruergård’s Record Breaker (Giant Sandman) by the absolute minimum.

Six lengths further back came Mrs Jenney (Shalaa) for Stald Søholm and Steen Ulsø.

In the 3-års Sprint, Lea Olsen’s Viktors Dream (Giant Sandman) pulled six lengths clear under Mikkel Mortensen, while Søren Jensen’s Vincenzo (Juniper Tree) was a length and a half ahead of Sandie Kjær’s Irish Glory (Cotai Glory).

Viktors Dream was bred at Stutteri Hjortebo and is owned by Niels Jørgen Bønlykke and Flemming Viktor Andersen.

Lea Olsen had a one-two in the 2-års Maidenserien, where Ann and Per Meyn’s Chacaya (Appel Au Maitre) and Per-Anders Gråberg scored by a length and a half from stablemate Priscilla Torkdahl (Appel Au Maitre). Only three of the six entries were brought to post.

The same pattern in the Taittinger Skandinavisk Ladies Cup, where Sweden’s Martin Persson was responsible for both of the first two.

Lifestyle (Moohaajim) was ridden to a comfortable three-length success by Matilde Kløve from Nevercantell (Appel Au Maitre) and Eszter Németh, and the winning rider received her own weight in Taittinger Rosé. Lifestyle and Nevercantell were both born and raised at Stutteri Hjortebo.

The biggest winning margin of the day came in the Class 1 handicap, where the 2025 Horse of the Year, My Fortune (Appel Au Maitre), led the way in a display of sheer superiority.

Bettina Andersen’s 5-year-old gelding won by nine lengths under Oliver Wilson from Sealove (Sea The Moon) and Sir Jeffrey (Hunter’s Light).

And Lea Olsen rounded off the day with her third win, when Sans Arc Partners’ Zavannah (Havana Gold) and Per-Anders Gråberg brought home the Novis Løb by half a length from Wolis Hamoriko (Girolamo).

Carlos Lopez and Per-Anders Gråberg each rode two winners on the day.
