Missing meets Bushwacker in a three-year-old handicap at Jägersro

Missing (Red Cactus) has earned more than any other horse in the field, and on Wednesday afternoon Bettina Andersen’s three-year-old colt carries 60 kilos in the three-year-old handicap over 1600 metres at Jägersro. The biggest purse of the day, SEK 150,000, brings together six three-year-olds, and the top weight belongs to Bushwacker (Supremacy), who won Rosengårdlöpning at the same track ten days ago.

The race has a backstory. On 23 September three of the six met over 1730 metres at Jägersro, and there Zensation (White Soxs) won by a head from Missing, with Modesty (Sea The Moon) a further three lengths back in third.

Zensation carried 52 kilos that day against Missing’s 58. On Wednesday the difference is five kilos — 60 against 55 — so Missing is a kilo better off than last time. Madeleine Smith rode Zensation to that win herself; on Wednesday Jacob Johansen takes over, while she partners the stablemate Bolzano.

Missing has SEK 718,706 in the bank and three seconds this year. The biggest came in Svenskt Derby on 12 July, where he finished second, nine lengths behind Doc Holliday, in a treble for Stutteri Hjortebo. Since then he has been second behind Ferrari BF in September and second again behind Zensation. Michael Stounberg’s Investia Group owns him, and Oliver Wilson rides him again.

Bushwacker arrives on a very different line of form. Lennart J:r Reuterskiöld’s colt has won five of his seven starts this year — the maiden, The Shelby Family Trophy, a three-year-old race in July, the Derby Day Sprint and most recently Rosengårdlöpning by a neck from Golden Grace.

He is rated 84 against Missing’s 82, and his wins have come over 1200 and 1600 metres.

The last two in the field are Sir Brian (Zaahid), who runs for Annika Sjökvist and Racehorses and Bubbles with 54 kilos, and Bolzano (Gale Force Ten), who was second in Britta Strokirk Memorial at Bro Park last Wednesday and meets them on the lowest weight in the field, 52 kilos.

Modesty ran last in Svenskt St. Leger at Göteborg, where she finished fifth.

The card opens at 12.20 with a Klass 5 race over 1200 metres, and after the three-year-old handicap at 13.08 comes a Klass 5 race over 1730 metres with the biggest field of the day, fifteen runners.

Sprint Cup for purebred Arabians is run at 13.56, and the closing Klass 4 Handicap over 2200 metres is an amateur riders’ race with no betting.
