Lady Irene took the Danish Oaks — and now goes for a historic treble

Lady Irene won the BOLOU Fine Jewellery Danish Oaks on Saturday by three and a half lengths from her stablemate Jazz. The Niels Petersen-trained filly already has the Svenskt Oaks on her CV and can become the first in history to win all three Scandinavian Oaks. Next stop is the Norsk Oaks at home at Øvrevoll.

Danish Criterium: Stepdance fooled them all by a head

Bent Olsen’s Stepdance was left to his own devices in the betting, but won the Herman Sallings Mindeløb Danish Criterium on Saturday by a head from Søren Jensen’s Mallee Sand. The DKK 150,000 went to Stald Spitco in the day’s biggest surprise — the winner’s first success at the third attempt.
