It was Sandie Kjær’s afternoon at Fyens Væddeløbsbane. Sandie won the day’s feature race and added the Odense Milen with a double on top. The biggest of the wins was taken in the Stark Fyensløbet 2026, where the four-year-old Sea The Sunrise won the 60,000 kroner first prize under Jacob Johansen.
Sea The Sunrise (Juniper Tree) carried the lightest weight in the race with her 54 kilos, and with Jacob Johansen in the saddle she crossed the line a length and a half clear of Rikke Rohbach Bonde’s Lady Macallan (Al Shemali). A further length and a half back, Makaveli (Sands Of Mali) finished third.
It was the second win of her career in 17 starts for Sea The Sunrise, and the first this year. She is bred by Falkonertjenesten and owned by Healthy Horse.
The favourites came up short one after another. Tina Mortensen saddled three home-track hopes, and The Patriot (Primatico) was fourth, Call Me Al (Al Shemali) sixth and Silver Wings (Appel Au Maitre) last of the nine.
Lea Olsen’s Giovanni Torkdahl (Lope De Vega), the runner-up in the race last year, was fifth, and the defending Fyensløbet winner Garlic (Outstrip) finished seventh.
Within the Elkær Stutteri Fuldblodsfonds Grand Slam Serie that means Sea The Sunrise now shares the lead with The Patriot and Garlic on 60 points, while Lady Macallan has 25 and Makaveli 15.
Sandie Kjær’s second win of the day came in the Odense Milen 2026, where Royal Dane (Wilshire Boulevard) won by a neck from stablemate Alakay (Wilshire Boulevard) — two horses by the same sire, in the same colours for Lulu Tøpholm and from the same stable.
Galileo Charm (Galileo Gold) followed another neck away in third, while Marsk Torkdahl (Make Believe) was a further three quarters of a length behind with Cloudy Sky (Cloth Of Stars) a head away.
The day’s other double went to Sara Slot, who first won the Elkær Stutteri Fuldblodsfonds Ærespræmieløb on her own Nevertheless (Reliable Man) and then closed the meeting with victory on Maria Løgtved’s Camar (Advertise) in the HM Dronning Ingrids Mindeløb.
Nevertheless is trained, ridden and part-owned by Sara herself, and after a run of narrow defeats in his last five starts it came off for the eight-year-old gelding by a head from Jytte Løgtved’s Big Hunter (Juniper Tree). Glory Of Lancome (Cotai Glory) was third in a race where the first eight horses finished within a good eleven lengths.
The Camar win in the race for amateur riders and apprentices was a show of strength: four lengths to Tullamore (Al Shemali), and a further neck to Lea Olsen’s Warrior (Evasive).
Jacob Johansen also had a double.
Besides the Stark Fyensløbet he won the Fyens 3-års Cup, the third leg of the Elkær Stutteri Fuldblodsfonds 3-årsserie, on the Flemming Poulsen-trained Entends (Yafta).
The French-bred filly was fourth on her seasonal debut at Jägersro in August, and here she took her first win by a length from Sir Pablo (Magician) and a further 3.5 lengths to Vittoria (Gale Force Ten).
With the win Entends has 60 points in the series, where Viktors Dream leads on 120 without having taken part today.
The veteran did it again in the Restaurant Bondestuen og Musik ved Bøgen Ærespræmie.
The ten-year-old Sir Antonelli (Most Improved) took the 13th win of his career in his 89th start for Lea Olsen and Mikkel Mortensen — half a length clear of Lexington Avenue (Jimmy Creed), with whom Tina Mortensen had otherwise won both of her starts at Odense this year.
Record Breaker (Giant Sandman) was third, and Sugar Crust (Barocci) had to settle for fourth. The duel for the Årets galophest på Fyn title is therefore still open, with Sugar Crust narrowly ahead of Lexington Avenue.
The meeting opened with a debutant who delivered.
Maziyah (Giant Sandman) won the Fyens Galopklub Maidenløb on her first start for Tina Mortensen and Diego Pedroza by two lengths from Melvin (Hurricane Red) and a further head to Royal Runner (Red Cactus).
The filly is owned by Kjell Ivar Brekstad and Tina Mortensen, and is the first runner out of the major-race-placed Mariyna (Mingun), who is herself out of the Fawzia Stakes winner Mariyca (Daylami) and thus also a half-sister to the Oaks and Breeders’ Cup winner Malekha (Juniper Tree) and the Skandinavisk Grand Prix winner Hollywoodboulevard (Wilshire Boulevard).
Maziyah is bred by Stine, Karsten and Hans J. Johansen.
In the Højgård Hestehospital Ærespræmie over 2300 metres the Melissa Vesterholm-trained Napoleon (Al Shemali) won with Nicolaj Stott by three quarters of a length from Zavannah (Havana Gold), while Pura Vida (Gustav Klimt) was third a further 2.5 lengths away.
Napoleon is owned by Horseracing and Breeding and bred by Berner Olsen.
