Thursday’s seven races at Øvrevoll were all run on the dirt track, and the day’s best-paid contest, the Sølvdivisjon over 1,600 metres, was also the tightest: Caio Shark won by a neck, and the first five horses crossed the line inside a length.

A neck, a nose and a head
The Sølvdivisjon over 1,600 metres was worth 36,400 kroner to the winner and drew seven runners. Willa Synøve M. Schou settled it on Caio Shark (Kodi Bear), a neck in front of Niels Petersen’s Big Red Bling (Volatile), who in turn held stablemate Triple Treat (Giant Sandman) by a nose.
From there it was half a length to Theonello (Appel Au Maitre) and a head to Zofi (Mutajally).
It was the seven-year-old gelding’s first win of 2026, in his ninth start of the year and the tenth of a career now 51 starts long. Knut O. Arnesen trains Caio Shark for Knut og Atle.
When the same three – horse, rider and trainer – met the Sølvdivisjon over 1,600 metres on the turf on 16 September, the result was fourth place behind Hawaii Five O.

The daughter of an Oaks winner
The day’s opening race, a maiden over 1,600 metres, went to Stall Bonne Nuit’s Tellme Y (Gleneagles), who won by four lengths under Carlos Lopez.
The three-year-old filly is out of Mai Pen Rai, who won the Danish Oaks in 2015 for the same owner and from the same stable at Niels Petersen’s, and she had 246,349 kroner in the bank without a win – not least after finishing third in the Swedish 1000 Guineas at Bro Park in June.
Four days before this win she was eighth in the Breeders’ Prize Classic. Hard To Impress (Waldgeist) was second, 6¼ lengths ahead of Buffon (Mutajally).
A double for Hyldmo
Are Hyldmo was the only trainer with two winners on the day. Emmeline (Evasive) took the Jerndivisjon over 1,100 metres by 3¼ lengths under Mattia Girei from Queen Of Hearts (Pistachio), and over the same distance in the Høstbonus Bronse-sprint Mrs Dowley (Footstepsinthesand) won by a length and a half under Jacob Kvisla.
Mrs Dowley had been beaten a quarter of a length by Shazam Bling in the Bronsedivisjon on 16 September; this time Niels Petersen’s gelding finished fourth.
A first career win for Coppola
Silja Støren’s Coppola (Barocci) took his first win at the fifth attempt when the three-year-old gelding won the Grunndivisjon over 1,600 metres by 4¼ lengths under Manuel Martinez. Behind Boaz in second, Diggit and Lady Denali could not be separated and split the third prize after a dead heat.
The day’s biggest winning margin came in the Øvrevoll Hesteeierforening Klokkeløp IV for amateur riders, where Åsa Edvardsson’s L’Appel du Tigre (Appel Au Maitre) won by 15¾ lengths under Michelle Rosenqvist, while the closing race, the Jerndivisjon over 1,750 metres, went to Åge Mathisen’s Warning Shot (Falco) and Tonje Sørvang ahead of Pål Nordbye’s Prinsen and Robbie Brown.
Six of the day’s seven winners had not won a race in 2026 before Thursday, and two of them – Tellme Y and Coppola – were winning for the first time in their careers.
