Three-year-olds Classic Blaze and Red Moondancer struck against their elders

Elkær Stutteri Fuldblods Fond gave its name to three of Saturday's eight races at Klampenborg, and the day's best paid, the handicap series final, went to Kenneth Hansen and Gitte Wolle's Classic Blaze. In the Fillies' and Mares' race, Derby third Red Moondancer crossed the line as the winner ahead of Sealove.

Elkær Stutteri Fuldblods Fond gave its name to three of Saturday’s eight races at Klampenborg, and the day’s best paid, the handicap series final, went to Kenneth Hansen and Gitte Wolle’s Classic Blaze (Go Go Gadget). In the Fillies’ and Mares’ race, Derby third Red Moondancer (Appel Au Maitre) crossed the line as the winner ahead of Sealove.

Classic Blaze set out under 57.5 kilos in the final over 1800 metres, and the three-year-old gelding was ridden to a comfortable two-length win by Nicolaj Stott.

Behind him came Waleed Zawawi’s Spinwell (Make Believe), and from there it was a further six lengths back to Silver Wings (Appel Au Maitre), whom Lorenzo Putzulu rode for Tina Mortensen.

The first prize of DKK 60,000 was the biggest of the day. Classic Blaze is trained by Rikke Rohbach Bonde and was bred by Nils Wortmann Christensen.

In the Fillies’ and Mares’ race over 2300 metres the winner was Red Moondancer, who is both owned and bred by Jakob Dalhoff’s Lokalebasen.dk.

The Tina Mortensen-trained filly carried 53 kilos under Evelina Rönnlund and won by a length from Waleed Zawawi’s Sealove (Sea The Moon), while it was three lengths further back to Good To Go (Zoffany).

Red Moondancer had earlier in the season been third in both the Bucherer Danish Derby and the Jydsk Derby.

The day ended in the stewards’ room. In the weight-for-age race Great Green Rose (Dandy Man) passed the post first by a short head, but was disqualified from first place, and the win instead went to Would She (Kahyl) with Oliver Wilson in the irons.

Would She is both owned and bred by Lone Reimer Høgenhaug and is trained by Bettina Andersen. A further four lengths back came Hawthorn (Juniper Tree).

Saturday opened with the two-year-old series, where Lulu Tøpholm’s L.T. Racing took both first and third place.

Chamigo (Dark Angel) shed the maiden tag by six lengths under Josefin Landgren, and Lady Loire (A’Ali) was third behind Melissa Vesterholm’s Golden Exposure (Hunter’s Light).

Both Tøpholm horses are trained by Veronika Jandová. The race lost three of its nine entries before the start – Kodiomar with a temperature, Shooter with sore shins and Noosa with poor blood values.

The apprentice and amateur handicap went to Sweden’s Tanja Wilhelmsson, who both owns and rode Julia Navine’s (Nova).

The filly is trained and was bred by Rune Ohlsson, and the win came by a neck from Martin Persson’s Isaynomore (Giant Sandman).

In the second of the fund’s three races Helen Nilsson produced a result that is hard to match: she owns, trains and has bred Wolis Hamoriko (Girolamo), whom Lorenzo Putzulu rode to victory by the shortest possible margin from Finn Ind Forever (Juniper Tree).

Top weight Newton (Wilshire Boulevard) was third under 66.5 kilos.

The fund’s third race, the final of the three-year-old series, was won by Ole Torkdahl’s Don Torkdahl (Lucky Vega) by a length from Bernini (Juniper Tree).

Lea Olsen trains the winner, Anna Pilroth rode him, and he was bred by Tommy Frisby.

Bent Olsen saddled the day’s sixth winner, First (Moohaajim), whom Sandro De Paiva rode to a three-quarter-length win for Frank Hansen’s SVD A/S.

Anchorage (Moohaajim) was second by a short head from Amicone (Holy Roman Emperor) – two of the first three are by the same sire.

Both finals also settled the accounts in Elkær Stutteri Fuldblods Fond’s two series.

Classic Blaze’s win gave him 60 points in the Grand Slam series, and he therefore shares first place with The Patriot, Garlic and Sea The Sunrise.

The four horses share DKK 175,000 and receive DKK 43,750 each.

In the three-year-old series Viktors Dream held his lead on 120 points without taking part in the final and won the series and the DKK 50,000. Don Torkdahl went from 25 to 85 points with his win and took second place and the DKK 25,000.

Eight races produced eight different winning trainers and eight different winning jockeys.

Appel Au Maitre was the day’s busiest sire with seven offspring in the money, among them the winner Red Moondancer.
