A patient Francisco Castro had to wait all the way until the fourth day of the Goffs Orby Sale before he finally got the hammer down on two yearling colts.

The first was lot 767, a bay colt by Haydock Sprint Cup (Gr.1) winner Minzaal (Mehmas), who was bought for €27,000.
The colt is the fifth foal out of the American two-year-old winner Sun Lily (Street Sense), who has already produced two juvenile winners in Quarter (Earthlight) and American Lily (Bernardini), the latter well known in Scandinavia.
Sun Lily is out of the Storm Cat mare Storm Lily, who among her 11 winners is the dam of German Listed winner Clear Water (Hard Spun) and the group-placed Gold City (Pivotal) and Paris Lily (City Of Light), while third dam Crimplene (Lion Cavern) won the Coronation Stakes (Gr.1), the Irish 1000 Guineas (Gr.1), the Nassau Stakes (Gr.1) and the German 1000 Guineas (Gr.2), among others.
A son of Bungle Inthejungle
Later on Thursday, just before the close of the sale, Francisco Castro bought lot 901, a bay colt by Bungle Inthejungle (Exceed And Excel) out of the unraced Dark Angel mare Elbegei.
Elbegei is already the dam of the two-year-old winner Solomon Islands (Coulsty), and is herself out of Height Of Fashion Stakes (L) winner Elik (Dalakhani).
The colt comes from a strong German family which also includes the Group 1-winning stallion Epalo, German champion two-year-old Eagle Rise and Gerling-Preis (Gr.2) winner Eye Of The Tiger.
“Both horses have been bought with a view to a sale within the stable”, says Francisco Castro, who got the hammer down at €16,000 on the Bungle Inthejungle colt.
Scandinavian owners sold for €440,000

Francisco Castro was in fact the only Scandinavian buyer at this year’s Goffs Orby Sale, but earlier in the week there were two sales by The Nordic Partnership, which consists of several Danish interests together with Anna and Moa Sundström.
The Nordic Partnership sold lot 321 on Tuesday, a colt by Camelot (Montjeu) out of the Zamindar mare Verriya, for €310,000 to Emmet Mullins, having paid €260,000 for him as a foal last November.
A little later on Tuesday the consortium’s lot 350, a bay colt by Good Guess (Kodiac), was sold for €130,000 to MC Bloodstock. That was €60,000 above last year’s pinhook price.
The consortium’s third pinhook, lot 475, a filly by Wootton Bassett (Iffraaj) out of a winning War Front full sister to Group 1 winners Roly Poly and U S Navy Flag, was bought back for €190,000 and is now aimed at the breeze-up season in the spring.
