Two-year-old Grenoli won on debut at Jägersro

Grenoli won the Y-CAP-Löpning on the very first start of his life — a week after his qualifier. Maikel Narvaez Bravo rode for Lennart Reuterskiöld Jr, and the first prize of 45.000 Swedish kronor was the biggest payout of the day on a card of only four races.

The Y-CAP-Löpning over 1600 metres was the best paid race of the day with 90.000 Swedish kronor on offer. It is confined to two-year-olds that have not won, and five were brought to the start.

Grenoli (Space Traveller) had never started before. On 14 October he completed his qualifier at Jägersro in 0.50,7 with Maikel Narvaez Bravo in the saddle, and on Wednesday they repeated the trip over double the distance. The time was 1.43,5, and the margin barely two lengths to the Danish-trained La Mer (Go Go Gadget).

From there it was five lengths to Osmium Star (Mustajeeb), a length and a half more to Mosel (Devil’s Drink) and seven to Safari Moon (Appel Au Maitre). The first prize was 45.000 Swedish kronor.

Grenoli was bred in Ireland by Austin Lyons and runs for De tre charmörerna, who bought him privately over the summer — and did so with an advance entry for the Swedish Derby series in 2027.

La Mer represented Rikke Rohbach Bonde’s stable at Jægerspris and runs for Stald Søndervang. She was bred in Denmark, and second place was her best finish in four starts.

The rest of the day

The day opened with the klass 3 handicap over 2200 metres, where Blushing Zone (Appel Au Maitre) won in commanding style by six lengths in 2.22,6 for Stall Perlen.

Jan-Erik Neuroth trains, Oliver Wilson rode, and it was the second win of the career from seven starts for the Danish-bred three-year-old.

Appel Ride finished second, and Goddessoffortune, who won the last race at the same track a week ago, third with 50 kilos. Apple Jacks was withdrawn with a hoof abscess.

The Baker Tilly Handicap over 1600 metres turned into a show for Marie Lustig, who trained the first three home. Mudawy (Dark Angel) won by four lengths in 1.44,2, Headora (Charming Thought) was second and Khurshed (Night Of Thunder) third after a short head.

All three run for Grytåsa Ridcenter and Emelie Gustavsson, who rode Headora herself. For Mudawy it was the sixth win of a career of 76 starts.

The last race of the day, the klass 4 handicap over 1730 metres, went to Navy Warrior (U S Navy Flag), who won by a neck after a battle in 1.51,9.

Alina Öhgren rode for Peter Jardby, who had three of the ten runners, and it was the fourth win of the year for the five-year-old. Xtara (Xtension) was second — she is ten years old and now has 120 starts and 17 wins behind her — and Jadina (Devil’s Drink) third, a head away.
