Ka Ying Rising’s winning run came to an end on Saturday morning in Australia

After 21 wins in a row, Ka Ying Rising’s winning run came to an end on Saturday morning in The Everest (Gr.1) at Randwick in Sydney. Ka Ying Rising (Shamexpress) was held up in midfield for most of the way, and he got out too late in the straight.

Tempted (Street Boss) had enjoyed a dream run close to the pace, and although Ka Ying Rising came home strongly in the straight, she held him by a short margin.

Tempted is owned and bred by Godolphin Australia. She is trained by Ciaron Maher and was ridden by Chad Schofield. She was herself runner-up to Ka Ying Rising in last year’s Everest and has won all five of her starts since.

For Ka Ying Rising it was a first defeat since 21 January 2024.

With second place Ka Ying Rising will probably also have to give up top spot in the TRC Global Rankings – perhaps to one of the winners on British Champions Day.
