Back in April The Nordic Partnership, a small consortium made up of Swedish and Danish interests, was behind a record transaction at Doncaster’s Breeze Up Sale when their two-year-old colt by Mehmas was sold for £1,000,000 – equivalent to 8.6 million kroner – to Godolphin. On Wednesday the colt made his debut with an easy win at Kempton.

Rapid Force, as Sheikh Mohammed has named the Mehmas colt, made his debut over 1200 metres on Kempton’s all-weather, and he faced only two rivals. William Buick took it quietly from the start and waited until the final part of the straight before finally asking him to go.
From there things happened quickly, and Rapid Force accelerated easily past the more experienced Mr Writer (Dark Angel) for a two-length win.
“He is a strong boy who will be even better as a three-year-old”, William Buick said in the subsequent winner’s interview, which can be seen together with the race replay in the video below.
