The first three mares scanned in foal to Stroxx Carlras

The Footstepsinthesand son Stroxx Carlras, who during his racing career won the Svenskt Derby, Norsk Derby and Pramms Memorial (L) among others, is under way in his first season as a stallion at Højgaard Dressage in Børkop. “He has covered five mares so far, three of which have just been scanned in foal”, Bolette Louise Sig Mathiasen tells GalopSport.

Stroxx Carlras won over distances from 1600 to 2400 metres on both turf and dirt, and at four different Scandinavian racecourses: Jägersro, Bro Park, Øvrevoll and Klampenborg.

The stallion’s final start came in last summer’s Elo Ervolders Mindeløb at Klampenborg, where he gave five kilos to Silver Legend (Dark Angel) and won by three-quarters of a length under Nicolaj Stott.

“We had considered a stud career for him for a long time, but at the same time we also enjoyed watching him race. And then we hit a covering year in which several other new stallions were introduced at the same time. That has of course not made the competition any easier”, says Bolette.

Stroxx Carlras is now owned by Prøvelyst Equestrian in North Zealand – the stud which has also taken over the Scandinavian Open (Gr.3) winner Go On Carlras (Harzand), and which has invested in several international mares that in time are to help secure Stroxx Carlras’ career as a stallion.

“We do not have a stallion station of our own at Prøvelyst, and we are therefore very pleased with the co-operation with Højgaard Dressage, which lies close to Fredericia and the Little Belt Bridge, and where mare owners have full stabling facilities during the covering season”, Bolette concludes.
