Almost 10 years after Enable began her own career with a winning debut, her son did exactly the same. Juddmonte’s Entrust (Dubawi) won the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes over 7f 213y at Doncaster on Friday afternoon, and one of the finest racemares of this century is finally the dam of a winner.
Colin Keane settled the two-year-old colt in midfield on heavy ground, made his move with two furlongs to run and took the lead a furlong out. From there the argument was over. Entrust won by two and three-quarter lengths from Godolphin’s Zajal (Zarak), with a further two and a half lengths back to Age Of Reason (Lope De Vega), who carried the same blue colours.
The favourite, Ralph Beckett-trained Wellington Square (New Bay), could only finish seventh in a field of 10. Entrust was sent off at 3/1 as second favourite, and the first prize of £7,020 went to Juddmonte, who both own and bred him.
“He has the first box ticked,” Colin Keane told Racing Post after the race.
Ireland’s six-time champion jockey has been Juddmonte’s retained rider since June last year, and on Friday he travelled to Doncaster for this one ride.
Close to perfect

Enable (Nathaniel) began her own racing career on 28 November 2016 — in a maiden over the same trip, only at Newcastle. She won by nearly four lengths, and that was the start of something close to perfection: 15 wins from 19 starts, 11 of them at Group 1 level, and £10,724,320 in earnings.
As a three-year-old she won the Epsom Oaks (Gr.1), the Irish Oaks (Gr.1), the King George (Gr.1), the Yorkshire Oaks (Gr.1) and the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Gr.1). The following year she took the Arc for a second time and ended the season with the Breeders’ Cup Turf (Gr.1) at Churchill Downs.
As a five-year-old came the Eclipse Stakes, another King George and another Yorkshire Oaks — and then the bid for a third Arc, where Waldgeist (Galileo) beat her in a dramatic finish. As a six-year-old she made history with her third win in the King George.
Frankie Dettori rode her in 17 of her 19 starts. She was voted Europe’s Horse of the Year in both 2017 and 2019, and in 2025 she was inducted into the British Racing Hall of Fame.
Three foals, and only now a runner

Entrust is Enable’s third foal, but the first to reach a racecourse. Her firstborn, Encompass (Kingman), arrived on 11 February 2022 and never made it to the track; today he stands as a stallion in Cyprus.
The second, the three-year-old Envisage (Dubawi), is a full sister to Entrust, and she has not run yet either. Entrust himself is a May foal.
Prince Khalid bin Abdullah never got to see any of them. He died on 12 January 2021 at the age of 83 — just over a year before Enable’s first foal was born. Juddmonte Farms have since stood alone as the most successful owner in the history of the Arc with seven wins, two of them Enable’s.
“He’s still green and babyish and learning the whole time. It’s quite an intimidating track to come to first time out, but he handled it very well,” trainer Thady Gosden told Racing Post. “He’s taken his time, his mother didn’t come out until late in the year as a two-year-old.”
After the win, bookmaker Paddy Power cut Entrust’s odds for next year’s Epsom Derby from 25/1 to 20/1, and Thoroughbred Daily News made him the 50th “Rising Star” for Dubawi.
