Norsk Galopp had the deadline for entries for the Norsk Derby 2027 on Monday. 68 candidates were entered, and 22 of those came into the world at Danish studs. 15 were born in Norway, 10 in Sweden, while countries outside Scandinavia account for 21 in total.

“Even though 15 were born in Norway, there are actually 22 Norwegian-bred in total, and these can run in the Drømmemilen over 1600 metres on the same day”, adds Norsk Galopp’s racing manager Liv Kristiansen.
We need go back no further than 2024 to find the most recent Danish-bred winner of the Norsk Derby – the Jan-Erik Neuroth-trained Schamyl (Appel Au Maitre), who was born at Stutteri Hjortebo in Bjerringbro.
The race is run for total prize money of NOK 1.2 million with 700,000 to the winner, and it should be noted that there are still two opportunities for late entry – on 29 June 2026 (NOK 25,000 + subsequent stakes) and again on 15 February 2027 (NOK 100,000 + subsequent stakes).
