21 Scandinavian purchases at the Tattersalls Ireland Breeze Up

Buyers from Sweden, Norway and Denmark alike were in a strong buying mood on Friday during the Tattersalls Ireland Breeze Up Sale at Fairyhouse. No fewer than 21 2-year-olds were sold to Scandinavia, and 18 of them are entered for Sweden’s Derby & Oaks Series in 2027.

The most expensive of the Scandinavian purchases was lot 15, a bay American-bred filly by War Front, whom agent Edgar Byrne secured for €82,000 on behalf of Bling Enterprise, and she now goes into training with Niels Petersen at Øvrevoll.

Lot 164, a colt by Hello Youmzain, is heading the same way.

Lea Olsen was the only Danish trainer in the market, and for €30,000 she bought lot 126, a colt by Space Traveller, on behalf of her client Chris Petersen – one half of the connections behind Saturday’s 2000 Guineas runner Albarella (Toronado).

The total Scandinavian turnover in Ireland reached €604,500 – equivalent to a good DKK 4.9 million.
