On his first start on Danish soil, Lulu Tøpholm’s Hans Andersen became a Listed winner for his trainer Veronika Jandová and jockey Carlos Lopez. The 5-year-old son of Frankel won comfortably by a length and a half in the Danish Jockey Club Cup (L) ahead of Silver Legend and Greenland.
Hans Andersen was last out of the stalls, but was taken quietly by his jockey and gradually galloped his way into the contest along the back straight.
Around the home turn the bay colt made his way past one rival after another with plenty in hand, and towards the end of the contest there was no doubt about the outcome. Hans Andersen got the upper hand with a couple of hundred metres to run and comfortably took the first prize of DKK 110,000 for his big-spending owner.

Silver Legend (Dark Angel), who for the first time met the older Scandinavian elite at more or less level weights, made his seasonal debut with an impressive second place ahead of the Scandinavian Open winner Greenland (Saxon Warrior), while King David (Elusive City) was fourth ahead of the last prize money earner Unconquerable (Churchill).
Hans Andersen was running in Denmark for the first time since he was sold privately during the Tattersalls October Horses in Training Sale in Newmarket in the autumn.

He has, however, run four times previously in Lulu Tøpholm’s light blue colours at Meydan, where he did not have enough to have a say in the outcome.
The Dubai form was intact on this last Saturday in April, on the other hand, and now it really does look as though Veronika Jandová and Willy Segovia have got the colt working.
