Nevermore rounds off Søren Jensen’s day of triumph in the Derby Consolation

Half an hour after the Derby triumph, Søren Jensen and Jules Mobian also won the Bucherer Derby Consolation with Nevermore. It was the Jensen stable’s third win on a historic Derby Day.

As if the Derby win were not enough, Søren Jensen and Jules Mobian also put the full stop on the raceday: in the Bucherer Derby Consolation over the same 2,400 metres, Nevermore (Gleneagles) won by three-quarters of a length, completing an evening in which Jensen and Mobian each won three times.

The three-year-old filly, owned by Hoppe og Co., saw off the favourite Konnichiwa (Japan) from Niels Petersen’s stable, while Lea Olsen’s Eden Roc (Appel Au Maitre) – coming off a second place in the Derby Trial Stakes in July – finished third for Elkær Stutteri.

The first prize was DKK 50,000, and with that the books could be closed on a historic Derby Day: three wins for Søren Jensen with Taifuu, Cosmopolitan and Nevermore, and three for Jules Mobian with Sir Diamond, Cosmopolitan and Nevermore.

Nevermore was bred in Sweden by Eva Isacsson-Sjunnesson.
