Ka Ying Rising made his seasonal debut with his 21st straight win

The Hong Kong-based gelding Ka Ying Rising made his seasonal reappearance at Sha Tin on Sunday, and naturally he did so with victory in the HKSAR Chief Executive’s Cup (Gr.3).

It was his 21st win in a row, which is a Hong Kong record. At the same time his clocking of 1.06.11 for the 1,200 metres was a new course record.

Ka Ying Rising earned around £225,000 for the win, which is the equivalent of winning Saturday’s Betfair Sprint Cup (Gr.1) at Haydock. A Group 3 win in Hong Kong thus pays just as well as a lesser Group 1 in England. The money is simply bigger in betting-mad Hong Kong.

Ka Ying Rising is ranked number 1 on both the TWC World Ranking and the Longines World Ranking.
