Trainer Catharina Vång and apprentice Jacob Kvisla got off to the best start at Bro Park’s season opener on 5 April. Vång and Kvisla each took three winners, but independently of each other.
Catharina Vång started strongly by saddling the first two winners of the season opener, Rationale (Kameko) and Tasmanian Legend (Australia), who were ridden by Marika Masuhr and Lorenzo Putzulu respectively.
Vång later took her third winner of the day when Elione Chaves rode West Bengal (Oasis Dream) first past the post.
Jacob Kvisla rode two of his winners for Annika Sjökvist – first in a maiden race for three-year-olds with Crystal Clear (Jimmy Mack), and finally in a class 3 handicap with the five-year-old Katie Bairdie (No Nay Never).
In between Kvisla also won with Ylva Brandt’s three-year-old Wonderwall (Giant Sandman).
Only one of the seven contests on opening day did not involve Vång or Kvisla. There Johanna Ericsson’s Bedazzling (Exceed And Excel) won with Engla Tunmar.
Sunday at Bro Park should also have marked the comeback of Jacob Johansen, but both of the Dane’s rides on horses trained by Julian McLaren were withdrawn.
