Cathrine Erichsen-trained Svadilfare, a full brother to the previous season’s Derby and dual 2000 Guineas winner Brigadier, swaps Øvrevoll’s sand for Göteborg’s turf on Sunday. The Moohaajim colt finished second on his debut on 23 April, when he could not get any grip on the surface at all.
Cathrine Erichsen has this time booked Sandro de Paiva for the ride over the 1400 metres, and there is every reason to believe that the bay colt will show himself considerably improved on turf and with a run under his belt.
The highest rated in the field is Patrick Wahl-trained King Cooper (Lucky Vega), who finished third on his seasonal debut, 15 lengths behind Wonderwall (Giant Sandman).
King Cooper comes from Stockholm to Göteborg on a handicap mark of 78, while Svadilfare reportedly showed 71 on his debut at Øvrevoll.
The race also features a seasonal debut for Jessica Long-trained Dancingonarainbow (Juniper Tree), who is a half-brother to this winter’s Cape Verdi Stakes (Gr.2) winner Dubai Beach (Blue Point).
Dancingonarainbow won on his debut at Jägersro last year, after which he was eighth behind Albarella (Toronado) in the Svenskt Kriterium. He too now gets his first start on turf.
