Sunday’s 168th edition of the German Oaks – the Henkel-Preis der Diana (Gr.1) in Düsseldorf – left a certain glow of satisfaction with Lone and Bo Hansen at Stutteri Thorskovgaard. Noble Lips, a half-sister to the stud’s stallion Northern Ruler, finished third behind Gestüt Fährhof’s Soreanga.
The Andreas Suborics-trained Noble Lips (Gleneagles) was beaten a little over six lengths by Andreas Wöhler’s Soreanga (Siyouni), who was ridden to victory and the first prize of €300,000 by Eddie Pedroza.
The French filly Lapotheose (Wootton Bassett) went off a red-hot favourite for the contest but had to settle for second under Alexis Pouchin.
Noble Lips arrived on the back of a third place in the Hamburger-Stutenpreis (Gr.3) at the German Derby meeting, and over the past month she has added further Black Type to the page of Northern Ruler, whom Stutteri Thorskovgaard installed at stud in 2026 as a replacement for the late Go Go Gadget (Areion).
