The stable form at Pia and Joakim Brandt’s is very much benefiting the training couple’s Norwegian owners at the moment, and on Monday Stall Perlen’s colours were first past the post for the second time in eight days. This time at Chantilly, where five-year-old Zeloro struck under Maxime Guyon.

Zeloro (Zelzal) was given the order to go shortly after turning into the straight and immediately put several lengths between himself and his 14 rivals. Towards the line Quiet King (Persian King) came menacingly closer, but Zeloro still held on for a comfortable three-quarter-length win over the 1900 metres.
The first prize in the Prix de la Rue des Potagers was worth €36,902 to the five-year-old horse, who took his first win of the year at the third attempt, and his first win since 28 October last year, when he won over 1600 metres at Chantilly.

The Sunday before last Bente and Magne Jordanger also won a promising maiden with their three-year-old Zaramix (Zarak), and 13 days ago they were only a short head away from an owner/breeder win at Saint-Cloud as well, when three-year-old Amie Amour (Lope De Vega) finished second behind Houville (Zelzal).
Amie Amour is, incidentally, a full sister to the Derby and Scandinavian Open (Gr.3) winner Ami De Vega.
