The Stockholm Cup International (Gr.3), worth SEK 1,000,000, brings together nine horses at Bro Park on Sunday. Defending champion Nastaria meets the recent Marit Sveaas winner War Socks, the Danish-bred dual Derby winner Schamyl and the 10-year-old Espen Hill, who won the race in 2023.
The day after this year’s Scandinavian Open Yearling Sale, last year’s yearlings run for Denmark’s best-paid two-year-old race. Fifteen horses are entered for the Dansk Galops Auktionsløb, and the whole of Klampenborg’s Saturday is staged in the name of the French auction house Arqana.
Ireland’s master trainer Aidan O’Brien landed another big-race triumph in the Irish St. Leger (Gr.1), and he underlined it by having the first three horses home. The odds-on favourite Scandinavia arrived on the back of two Group 1 wins in a row: the Gold Cup (Gr.1) during Royal Ascot week in June and the Goodwood Cup (Gr.1) in July.
