2018 Goresbridge Breeze-Up Sale catalogue published

Goresbridge has released a bumper catalogue of 246 lots for their Breeze-Up Sale, which takes place on May 24thand 25th. The largest sale of its kind in Europe, it has grown year-on-year, buyers flocking as success on the track increases.


Last year’s top lot, Landshark, won on debut before finishing second in the Group 3 Round Tower Stakes, and his consignors offer a sibling as Lot 81.

The catalogue includes a wide range of sires, from proven stallions such as Acclamation, Dark Angel (IRE), Frankel and Kodiac, to new boys Alhebayeb (IRE), Bungle Inthejungle (IRE) and Slade Power (IRE).

There is, as always, an international flavour to the pedigrees, with sires such as Animal Kingdom, Empire Maker, Kittens Joy, Scat Daddy and Siyouni represented.

Horses will gallop at Gowran Park Racecourse on May 24thfrom 12pm, with horses available to view both before and after the breeze.

Lots may be inspected at the Goresbridge sales complex from 8am the following day, with selling kicking off at 10.30am.

International buyers are encouraged to contact ITM for assistance with accommodation and regarding their Inward Buyer scheme, which offers buyers set contributions towards travel.


Highlights of the catalogue include:

Lot 16;a Requinto (IRE) half-sister to Group 2 winner Glory Awaits (IRE), who also finished second in the Group 1 QIPCO 2,000 Guineas

Lot 19;a Bated Breath half-sister to Grade 1 winner and sire Bellamy Road

Lot 23;a Dragon Pulse (IRE) half-brother to Group 2 Beresford Stakes runner-up Mawaakef (IRE), out of a half-sister to Air Express (IRE)

Lot 24;a Teofilo (IRE) half-brother to Group 2 winner and Prix Maurice de Gheest second Donjuan Triumphant (IRE), as well as Listed winner Caledonian Spring (IRE)

Lot 26;a Slade Power (IRE) half-brother to four Stakes horses, including Group 2 Doncaster Cup winner Desert Skyline (IRE). Their dam, Diamond Tango, won the Group 2 Prix de Pomone

Lot 57;an Iffraaj colt out of multiple Stakes winner Look Busy (IRE), whose victories included the Temple Stakes and Flying Five Stakes. The second dam produced last year’s Prix Morny winner Unfortunately (IRE)

Lot 67;a Siyouni colt ouf of Group 2 Prix Robert Papin second Louve Rouge

Lot 71;an Exceed And Excel half-brother to Group 2 May Hill Stakes third Musharakaat (IRE)

Lot 84;an Australia filly out of Listed winner Festoso (IRE), who was also placed in the Group 2 Cherry Hinton Stakes and Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes

Lot 85;a Lope De Vega (IRE) colt out of Listed winner and Group 1 Irish Oaks second Scottish Stage (IRE)

Lot 118;an Iffraaj half-brother to three black-type horses, including the dam of Coventry Stakes winner Buratino (IRE). Their Sadler’s Wells dam was Group 3 placed

Lot 127;a Dark Angel (IRE) colt out of the Listed winning mare Glory Power (IRE)

Lot 140;a Showcasing colt out of Group 3 and Listed winner Sesmen

Lot 162;a Starspangledbanner filly out of a Stakes-winning full-sister to Grade 3 winner Touching Beauty

Lot 177;a Frankel filly out of the Listed-winning Indian Ridge mare Vital Statistics

Lot 178;a Fast Company (IRE) colt out of Sandringham Handicap winner Celtic Heroine (IRE), herself a full-sister to Group 1 Gran Premio del Jockey Club winner Rainbow Peak (IRE)

Lot 185;a Society Rock (IRE) colt out of Listed winner and Group 1 Gran Criterium second Singapore Lilly (IRE)

Lot 219;a Lope De Vega (IRE) half-sister to Grade 3 winner Turning Top (IRE), who also finished second in the Grade 1 Yellow Ribbon Stakes. Their black-type dam is a daughter of champion two-year-old filly Bianca Nera, herself the grand-dam of Postponed (IRE)

Lot 228;a Holy Roman Emperor (IRE) filly out of a winning half-sister to Group 1 winner Beauty Only (IRE), also by Holy Roman Emperor (IRE)
