Wibecke Nagell-Erichsen’s four-year-old Mount Kilimanjaro landed from another planet and carried off the 2026 edition of the Stockholms Stora Pris (Gr.3) at Bro Park. Completely unruffled, he pulled clear of Icon Bling and Admiral De Vega to win by almost two lengths under Carlos Lopez.
It was a Norwegian one-two-three in the 1,750-metre feature, with Niels Petersen, Jan-Erik Neuroth and Annike Bye Hansen the leading players.
Mount Kilimanjaro was making his second start for Petersen after being bought for 240,000 guineas in Newmarket last year through agent Edgar Byrne.
His first start came in the Danish Jockey Club Cup (L), where the Siyouni son knocked the rust off and won with two lengths to spare over Silver Legend (Dark Angel).

This time Mount Kilimanjaro was far better, and in reality he had already settled the Stockholms Stora Pris (Gr.3) at the entrance to the home straight.
Oliver Wilson did what he could on the back of Icon Bling (Lope De Vega), but this time last year’s Norwegian 2000 Guineas winner was up against superior forces.

The French-bred Mount Kilimanjaro (Siyouni) won last year’s Listed contest the Dee Stakes over 2,100 metres at Chester, and as a two-year-old he was second in the Criterium International (Gr.1) at Saint-Cloud behind his then stablemate at Aidan O’Brien’s, Twain (Wootton Bassett).
The colt has now won as many times for Niels Petersen as he managed for his former Coolmore connections, and with almost SEK 600,000 banked this year, his total career earnings have passed 3.7 million.
