Flemming Poulsen-trained Garcon became this year’s winner of Stark Fyensløbet, when with Liam Doran in the irons he fought down his big brother Steinway in the battle for the first prize of 60,000 kroner.
In third came Springtime Carlras (Juniper Tree) ahead of the last to earn prize money, Lemon (Victorious Soul) and Cornelia (Mount Nelson).
The Appel Au Maitre son Garcon took his second win in five starts this season, and he is now less than 5,000 kroner from passing 100,000 kroner for the first time since his three-year-old season in 2018, when he was among other things second in Jyllandsløbet behind King David (Elusive City).
Garcon, who throughout his career has been trained by Flemming Poulsen and owned by Lone and Jens Westh, has had Liam Doran on his back in his last four starts, which has resulted in two wins and two fourth places.
Both Garcon and Steinway were bred at Stutteri Hjortebo, and not only are the two full brothers – just a week ago their full sister Brunello won the Danish Oaks at Klampenborg.
The three siblings are out of Stutteri Hjortebo’s broodmare Acqualina Beauty (Montjeu), who is furthermore also the grandam of this year’s Danish Derby third and winner of Jockeyklubbens Grand Prix, Good Fortune (Appel Au Maitre), as well as of the Fawzia Stakes runner-up Aperola (Appel Au Maitre).
