Silja Støren and Bling Enterprise were well prepared for this year’s first two-year-old race at Øvrevoll. The duo Domdiggida Bling and Icon Bling took the first two places, and the winner in particular was extraordinarily fast.
Under Manuel Martinez Domdiggida Bling jumped out of the starting stalls for her first race like an established sprinter, and the Havana Grey daughter showed a natural speed that none of her rivals could keep up with.
The filly managed to win by a little over three lengths over the 900 metres, and she is without doubt facing a very exciting future.
Domdiggida Bling came to Norway from Ireland, where she cost €100,000 at Goffs Orby Sale last year. Her sire Havana Grey (Havana Gold) has in a short time become one of the most sought-after stallions in Europe, and his covering fee was after two crops on the racetracks lifted from 6,000 to 55,000 pounds.
The stallion is among others the sire of last season’s Middle Park Stakes (Gr.1) and Prix Morny (Gr.1) winner Vandeek, and Domdiggida Bling now joins the list of Havana Grey’s ‘insanely’ fast two-year-olds.
On the dam’s side too there is plenty of speed. Domdiggida Bling’s dam, Faery Song (Lawman), was a winner as a three-year-old and has now produced four winners from just as many runners.
She is herself out of the two-year-old winner Chervil (Dansili) and second dam of the Nassau Stakes (Gr.1) and Prix du Calvados (Gr.2) winner Fev Rover (Gutaifan), who has also been third in 1000 Guineas (Gr.1) and E.P. Taylor Stakes (Gr.1).
Not surprisingly Domdiggida Bling is among the 25 entries for ITM Amacitalöpning at Bro Park on 18 August, just as her name will probably turn up on every single list for big two-year-old races on the Scandinavian tracks for the rest of the year.
